Yeager-Holistic Health Fair
Hosted by The Center for Integrative Medicine at UPMC Shadyside, this health fair will offer guests the opportunity to learn more about all types of holistic medicine. “Integrative medicine” refers to the incorporation of evidence-based complementary therapies into conventional treatments for patients. Integrative medicine is meant to work in conjunction with traditional medicine, providing a more holistic approach to healing — mind, body, and spirit.
Grand Ballroom Foyer-Health Fair
At this traditional health fair, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about Go Red for Women’s BetterU program, speak to exercise specialists from the YMCA, have blood pressure, bone density and other important health screenings. Guests will have the opportunity to take the American Heart Association’s My Life Check to learn their risks of developing cardiovascular disease over the next ten years. Many additional experts will be available. On the lighter side, Estee Lauder will be there to give tips on a polished look.

This presentation will address how to develop a “resilient” life by changing the story we tell ourselves and the stories told about us. You’ll discover how this health care professional applied the concept of storytelling in her own life and its significant role in developing her new story. Also learn how these four things (nutrition, stress management, social connectedness and exercise) can help today be the first day of the rest of your health!

As working women, a good night's sleep is sometimes viewed as a rare luxury. Like everything else, we just never seem to find the time. The saying, "you snooze, you lose" does not apply here! In fact, a lack of sleep can be detrimental to your health. Learn how sleep duration and other issues, such as apnea and insomnia, can have a direct impact on your health. Dr. Rice will also discuss healthy sleep habits for your overall health and well-being.

Dr. Conway will present background research addressing the negative affects of stress on health, as well as guidance on stress management. The participants will then take part in an experiential guided imagery exercise for enhanced relaxation.
